This year (between the 14th and 27th November) many schools across the country will be taking part in ‘Switch Off Fortnight’, the national energy saving campaign.
We will be sending members of the geography club to deliver 'switch off' monitor badges for 2 children in each class. They will be responsible for ensuring lights, smartboards, laptops, computers, switches etc are all switched off or on power-saving mode when not in use.
Switch off monitors will get an energy saving log so they can complete a survey of the school and go on an energy saving mission to find out where and when devices are wasting energy. Classes will also monitor and analyse the data from this in Maths lessons.
We'll have certificates of achievement to give out if children actively taking part in the campaign and we are giving out some stickers to promote the campaign.
Could you take part at home? Tweet us and let us know what you are doing at @mkellygeography
Thanks and Happy Switch Off!
