After the assessor attended our school in June 24 over a two-day evaluation period, we received a report, which included the following:
It was an absolute pleasure to visit Mosspits Lane Community Primary. The inclusive practice, determination, and passion to improve outcomes for all children are evident from the moment you enter the school and are consistently delivered in all aspects of school life. The commitment of the staff to creating a supportive and nurturing environment is truly inspiring and it is clear that they are dedicated to ensuring that every child succeeds both academically and personally.
The inclusive nature of the school is woven into every element of its operation. Staff work collaboratively to address the needs of each child, supported by a robust system for identifying and responding to individual requirements. This is exemplified by the seamless cooperation between Senior Leaders and the Pastoral Lead, ensuring comprehensive support for every child.
Our commitment to PE and Sport has resulted in recognition from the School Games Mark, where we have achieved the Gold standard for four years running! Physical activity is a major part of our daily school life and the children thrive whilst taking part in the Daily Mile, competitions, PE lessons and activity at playtimes. Mr. Cunningham, our sports coach, works with all children throughout the school from Reception to Y6.
We are aiming for the Platinum Games Mark next time!
We believe that applying for awards allows us to gain an excellent perspective of our practice and how it can be enhanced. This year, we are beginning to work with the following bodies in our self-evaluation activities:
YPAS' Rainbow Flag Award (www.rainbowflagaward.co.uk)
The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for all schools and youth-centred organisations. The award focuses on positive LGBT+, (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities), inclusion and visibility.
The Rainbow Flag Award encourages a whole organisation approach to LGBT+ inclusion, as well as developing strategies to effectively challenge and combat LGBTphobic bullying.
Committing your school or organisation to the Rainbow Flag Award is a commitment to improve the lives of all the young people that you work with, as well as the LGBT+ young people in your care, those from LGBT+ families, and LGBT+ staff members.
