  • PA Sort It Saturday

    Mon 22 Apr 2024

Many members of our parent body came in on Saturday 20th April to help us prepare lots of indoor and outdoor areas for the summer term ahead.

They were incredible at clearning our forest school area and setting it up for lots of outdoor learning for children, as well as helping to decorate our library and organise resources.

If you feel able to support the PA at the next 'Sort It Saturday', please feel free to email pa@mosspits,com

  • A New Mud Kitchen!

    EYFS News:

    A New Mud Kitchen!

Miss Brown and Miss Murphy wanted to share some wonderful Early Years news with the rest of the school:

‘Our amazing Kandinsky Art Fundraiser meant that we could purchase a mud kitchen for EYFS!  Thank you to all parents and carers that bought a print!

Their ‘Mosspits-Michelin star’ outdoor cafe opened this week and the children have been exploring and using their new learning space brilliantly. They absolutely love it. The children have been wonderful at sharing and helping each other. We could not have purchased this without the kindness and generosity of our families!’

  • British Science Week - Smashing Stereotypes

British Science Week - Smashing Stereotypes

Our children benefited hugely from special assemblies run by outside organisations such as Mad Science, LSSP and they also experienced a falconry display! A large number of wonderful parents that work within the science and technology industry volunteered to run workshops for our children.  We are so grateful - the workshops covered a range of scientific concepts such as blackholes, the big bang theory, tiny particles around us, the digestive system and genetics just to name a few.

Also, during science week, we took part in a big recycling task. The government wants to build more evidence about what happens to our plastic waste to help put a change to the plastic crisis. By joining thousands of other people for a week and counting all the plastic we throw away we can provide that vital evidence needed. Miss Brown will also be giving out 2 X £10 vouchers for excellent engagement at home.  This also fits in with our value of Eco-Friendly.

See: https://www.britishscienceweek.org/ for further information about this year’s theme.

  • Poetry Excitement!

    Poetry Excitement!

KS1 children were visited by Andy Tooze - a poet - who inspired children and teachers alike to get involved with poetry.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and wrote and performed some excellent poems.

We were blown away by the poems in Y1 and Y2 - some of the children came to me to share them with me and the pride they had in their work was just fabulous.  They received very well deserved Headteacher Award stickers and others were awarded star achiever during the celebration assembly.

We are so proud of all of our poets!
